Dining, Drinks, and Dogs!

With the spring weather here, it's time to hit the streets of Downtown Raleigh with your canine crew! On Saturday, March 28th from 1-7 pm, the SPCA of Wake County, DowntownRaleigh.com, and 101 Lounge + Café will be sponsoring a walking tour of Downtown Raleigh.

Beginning at 101 Lounge + Café, participants of Hair O' The Dog Benefit can enjoy signature drinks, wine and beer, as well as a sampling of the restaurants' menu items. Coffee, juice, milk, and other non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.

Once attendees have satisfied their taste buds, they'll be given a punch card and set out on a tour of Downtown Raleigh. Each punch will come from other local, pet-friendly businesses that are part of the day's walking tour. After visiting each business on the walking tour, the completed punch cards will be entered into a series of drawings for prizes.

Throughout the day, there'll be a number of activities and live entertainment for people (and dogs) of all ages. From 1:30 to 3:00, the local fire department will set up along the streets of Downtown Raleigh; in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if a Dalmatian joined them! As the evening hours approach, a local band will hit the streets to entertain the adults. Rumor has it that the band does a great job of entertaining the crowds, too!

Ultimately, Hair O’ The Dog Benefit is a family and dog-friendly event for individuals wanting to help make a difference in the lives of homeless animals. The SPCA of Wake County has been helping thousands of homeless animals in our community since 1967. So, on March 28, 2009, come join us, 101 Lounge + Café, DowntownRaleigh.com, and the SPCA of Wake County with your family, friends, and of course, your canine crew! This event is a great way to become familiar with the local businesses in Downtown Raleigh, and it also serves as a way to meet new people who share a passion for dogs.  Step by step, we'll be making a difference!
