Statistical software development company, SAS, has been voted the best place to work by Forbes Magazine. This Cary NC based company has been on the list for the past thirteen years; however this is the first time it holds the top position.
The company is locally, and now nationally, known for its employee benefits. Some of these include:

The Raleigh, North Carolina area has considered itself to be in a bubble of sorts when hearing all the national news about the bad economy. That is not to say there has not been job loss in the area, because there has. However, there are jobs available if you are looking. Here are a few new employment opportunities that are sure to help.
On Tuesday, January 12, Garmin International announced they will be opening a development facility in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. Although no site has been officially chosen, plans are underway to get the process started. The new facility is set to employ 40 people to begin with. New School Board Ends Mandatory Year-Round Schools

The new Wake County School board voted to end year-round school assignments starting with the 2010-2011 school year. Making good on campaign promises, the new board has pushed for this controversial policy change since being elected. Along with the change comes cheers and criticism.
A year round schedule was implemented for 22 middle and elementary schools two years ago. The goal was to help ease overcrowding issues by allowing school buildings to be used year round. Many complain that this edict was only a temporary fix and that it never addressed the bigger issue of overcrowded schools.
